It's no secret that after a full decade of losses to Florida, Tennessee arrived at The Swamp as desperate for a win as ever. Butch Jones proved it in the second quarter, first asking for Tennessee to go for it on 4th-and-1 at the Gators' 47, and then asking his team to execute a jump pass, just like Tim Tebow famously used during his time at Florida.
That's a 24-yard pass from running back Alvin Kamara to tight end Ethan Wolf, one that sent the Vols on their way to a one-yard Jalen Hurd touchdown and a 14-7 lead.
The lead was stretched to 17-7 at halftime, not that any Vols fans will rest easy after seeing their team blow a 17-0 lead vs. Oklahoma two weeks ago. But in that game, Jones came in for heavy criticism for his conservative approach; based on the jump pass call, that won't be an issue Saturday.
