You can't blame Ole Miss for being excited about its 2014 season. The Rebels beat Alabama, rose all the way to the top of the polls, got in playoff contention, reclaimed the Egg Bowl crown over Mississippi State in emphatic fashion and earned a berth in a New Year's Six bowl. Arguably, it was the best Rebels season since Archie Manning was still playing in Oxford ... the only thing it was missing was a ring.

Or, uh, not, apparently. Via Hugh Freeze's Twitter account:

Yes, that ring reads "Peach Bowl." That was the aforementioned New Year's Six game. You remember -- the one Ole Miss lost 42-3 to TCU in humiliating fashion.

Commemorating the Rebels' 2014 season is a terrific idea. Making a ring to honor it without winning so much as a divisional championship might be unusual, but given the unprecedented-in-the-modern era nature of said season in Oxford, hey, knock yourselves out, guys.

Making a ring highlighted your participation in a game you lost by 39 points is ...

...

odd. Let's go with "odd."
