Nashville Predators forward Mike Fisher recently crossed the 1,000-game milestone in the NHL, which was cause for celebration. He was honored by the Predators with a special tribute Monday night ahead of their game against the Los Angeles Kings.

Having starred on the ice for the Ottawa Senators and the Predators over his career, he’s a bit of a star off the ice as well, by association at least. Being married to country superstar Carrie Underwood will do that for you.

Very many friends in hockey and the music world paid tribute to Fisher in a video put together by the Predators. He received messages from music celebrities such as his wife, Dierks Bentley, Brad Paisley, Luke Bryan, Michael W. Smith, Rascal Flatts, Vince Gill and in a surprise twist early in the video, U2’s Bono reworked the words to the Proclaimers earworm-hit “500 Miles" in a special tribute to Fisher.

Here’s the video, which is over eight minutes long, starting with Underwood's message. The Bono part comes around the 1:18 mark:

It’s pretty clear that Fisher has a lot of friends in high places in the music world now, but there were a lot of nice messages from past teammates and opponents, as well.  Many former Senators teammates had some really kind words for their friend. From Marian Hossa to Daniel Alfredsson to the stars of country music and many in between, Fisher’s tribute was comprehensive to say the least.

I mean, Bono made a song for it. So that’s pretty good.

Not only was it a nice tribute, though, the Predators actually went ahead and beat the Los Angeles Kings 5-2. Fisher even scored his 12th of the year in the victory.
