Rick DiPietro, the oft-injured former goaltender of the New York Islanders, is enjoying a second career as a media personality, both on the radio and on TV. He is still an unabashed supporter of the Islanders – he is still on the payroll after all – and decided to take some drastic measures to help the team get out of their current slump.

So DiPietro channeled his inner Don Cherry and busted out one of the loudest suit jackets you will ever see.

Islanders rinkside reporter Shannon Hogan shared DiPietro’s special threads for Sunday's broadcast.

Even Cherry might have thought to himself, “Whoa, Donnie, let’s take it down a notch,” if he pulled this thing out of his closet.

Maybe the slump-buster jacket will do the trick for the Islanders, who have lost three straight and seven of their last eight. However, if this jacket does bust the slump, it could be bad news for MSG viewers. If DiPietro is superstitious, he may have to wear it for a while. Adjust your TVs accordingly, folks.
