St. Louis Blues defenseman Barret Jackman has always been a player that plays the game on the edge. Not usually shy about dropping his gloves, Jackman tussled with Colorado Avalanche forward Jarome Iginla at the end of the first period of their game Saturday night.

Both players were sent to their respective dressing rooms ahead of the intermission and that was that. However, Jackman and Iginla each had nearly all of their major penalties to serve at the start of the second. So when Jackman made it over to the visitors’ penalty box to start the middle frame, he decided to familiarize himself with the locals.

There was one small fan who looked a little bit scared of the big hockey player that came over to sit down “next” to her. So Jackman gave her a little wave, perhaps as a bit of reassurance. That didn’t suffice though.  So he scooted a little closer and gave her the ol’ stare down.

It's more than a little funny that this moment comes after a fight, but it's nice to see that even in the middle of some of the brutality, there's a little room for sweetness in the game, too.
