Thanksgiving is a holiday that's generally known for traditions like awkward hugs, hanging out with relatives you don't like and watching a lot of NFL football.

However, since the advent of Twitter, a new tradition has emerged: The Redskins awkwardly tweeting out their Thanksgiving well-wishes and then everyone on Twitter reacting exactly how you'd think everyone on Twitter would react.

It all started at 9:01 a.m. ET with this tweet from the team.

A few minutes later, the backlash started.

Despite the backlash, some people actually look forward to the Redskins' annual Thanksgiving tweet.

Those people love reading the replies because the replies go something like this.

Some people even want the Redskins to delete their account.

I feel like that's not going to happen.

For the record though, there was at least one guy who appreciated the Redskins' Thanksgiving well-wishes.

It hasn't been a good week for the Redskins.

Besides dealing with the backlash from their Thanksgiving tweet, the team is also dealing with the backlash from the NFL's decision to have Washington play a game in London next season. The Oneida Indian Nation blasted both the NFL and the Redskins for "promoting racial slurs worldwide."
