You know it's the offseason when we're having a discussion about whether or not a particular NFL quarterback is ranked as the "X" best guy in the league. But this one is just silly. Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III believes he's the best quarterback in the NFL.

Or something close to it.

“I don’t feel like I have to come out here and show anybody anything or why I’m better than this guy or better than that guy. It’s more about going out and affirming that for me, I go out and I play, I know I’m the best quarterback on this team," Griffin told WJLA in an interview. "I feel like I’m the best quarterback in the league and I have to go out and show that."

Some of you will skip/already skipped straight to the comment sections to scream about it's more "RG ME" than "RG3."

But Griffin's next point boils down all the elite-y-ness debate that encompasses every single NFL offseason.

"Any athlete at any level, if they concede to someone else, they’re not a top competitor, they’re not trying to be the best that they can be," Griffin added. "There’s guys in this league that have done way more than me. But, I still view myself as the best because that’s what I work toward every single day."

THAT is the fairest thing any athlete can say.

Griffin knows -- or has to know at least -- he's not better than Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady (or even Andrew Luck) at this stage of his career. It's absolutely asinine to suggest he's the best quarterback in the league, especially when he's much closer to being the worst quarterback in the league.

But no athlete is going to go out and say he's the "10th-best quarterback" in the league. Like Griffin said, conceding isn't an option.
