PHOENIX -- An emotional Thomas Davis won the 2014 Walter Payton Man of the Year Award at the 4th annual NFL Honors on Saturday night and provided an inspirational message to his fellow NFL players.

The Panthers linebacker openly wept while accepting the award and urging players to help change the message about the league.

"Let’s take charge. Dare to be different," Davis said. "We are a village. Let's step up and be a village of guys that make a difference. Let's change this world.

Let’s give the media something positive to talk about instead of always bashing our league.”

Davis later addressed the media and reiterated his comments.

“There’s so much negativity going on in this league," Davis said. "We’re in a position where we can make a difference."

There were a lot of fun moments during the show, but Davis' emotional speech was easily the highlight.
