After two years in the Canadian Football League, wide receiver Duron Carter is making the move to the NFL.

CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora has reported that Carter and Indianapolis Colts have agreed to terms on a deal, although nothing's expected to be formally announced until sometime next week at the earliest.

Several NFL teams were interested in Carter, but it appears one of his deciding factors in picking Indy was the presence of quarterback Andrew Luck.

Carter, the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Cris Carter, was one of the CFL's top receivers during the 2014 season. Playing for the Montreal Alouettes, Carter ranked third in the CFL in both receptions (75) and receiving yards (1,030).

The 23-year-old also caught seven touchdowns for Montreal, a number that ranked tied for second in the CFL last season.

The troubled receiver went undrafted in 2013 after a rocky college career that saw him bounce between several schools like Ohio State, Alabama, Florida Atlantic and Coffeyville Junior College. Except for Coffeyville, Carter rarely saw the field in college due to academic troubles and eligibility issues.

When Carter couldn't find an NFL team to sign with in 2013, he headed north and signed a two-year deal with the Alouettes.
