If you follow Steve Smith on Twitter, don't look for new tweets anytime soon -- or ever again. The Ravens wide receiver said Thursday that he's quitting the social media site.
"I'm done with it," Smith said, via the Ravens official website. "I think technology can help you, and it can hurt you, and I think also, too, sometimes we focus more on what's going on on our social media and less on what's actually really going on."
To be clear, Smith hasn't deleted his account, he's just not going to tweet anymore. Apparently, Smith was getting a little fed up with with people who use the Internet to anonymously bash other people.
Smith said that Internet trolls are like cover-2 corners.
"People are going to say what they want on Twitter. Internet courage is great," he said. "Internet courage is like a cover-2 corner. You got a safety over the top and you feel better about yourself. You got that one-on-one coverage, you back off a little bit. That's how I look at Twitter."
Smith's other reason for quitting? He wasn't being a good example for his kids.
"I'll kill you on Twitter, so I had to stop," Smith said. "Somebody will say something inappropriate to me, and my wife said I wasn't being a very good example for my kids."
The bad news here is that with Smith no longer on Twitter, we're no longer going to see gems like the time he corrected a ProFootballTalk report.
"@ProFootballTalk: Panthers paid Steve Smith $3 million to leave instead of $7 million to keep him." actually I received $5 million

There's was also the time he may or may not have (a) explained how his child was conceived or (b) taken a shot at Ray Rice. This tweet was sent out a week after Rice's second video was released.
