Bret Bielema is taking a different approach when it comes to disciplining Arkansas defensive end Tevin Beanum. Beanum was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and being a minor in possession of alcohol last weekend in Fayetteville, and rather than just suspending him, Bielema had a different idea.

He straight-up took away Beanum's car.

"It sounds simple," Bielema said. "I think a lot of today's problems can be solved by an old school way of thinking. So I picked up the phone and called his mom. We talked about different things. He has to go through the court system and obviously he'll have ramifications. But I've basically banned the use of his car for any time other than when he's coming over here or going to academics. His car is to remain parked. If he gets pulled over for running through a stoplight at 10:30 at night then he's violated my rules and there's going to be an even bigger consequence."

I like the idea of Bielema having some of his grad assistants on a full-time stakeout watching Beanum's car to make sure he walks to the convenience store for some Doritos instead of driving there.

Bielema also said that while Beanum hasn't been kicked off the team, he's had his team activities limited and been given some additional tasks to complete. Should Beanum complete school requirements as well as some Bielema's handed out, he'll return to the team on a full-time basis.
