North Carolina has reportedly hired a new defensive coordinator, and it's someone who is quite familiar to college football fans.

Chizik back!

Chizik had been working as an analyst for the SEC Network this season and has not coached since being fired by Auburn following the 2012 campaign. He won a national title with the Tigers in 2010, but before becoming a head coach at Iowa State in 2007, he spent 10 seasons as a defensive coordinator at stops like Stephen F. Austin, UCF, Texas and Auburn.

North Carolina fired its defensive coordinator, Vic Koenning, after the Tar Heels defense finished dead last in just about every major defensive category in the ACC, allowing a whopping 39 points per game this season.

So, to recap, Gene Chizik has gone from winning a national title at Auburn to North Carolina's defensive coordinator in only four seasons. He's like the anti-Lane Kiffin at this point.
