Here's a bombshell that could change the landscape of college football in 2014.
The Columbus Dispatch is reporting that Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller reinjured his right shoulder during practice Monday, and that the injury puts Miller's entire 2014 season "in jeopardy."
Ohio State has not confirmed the report, but a source tells CBSSports.com's Jeremy Fowler that Miller will undergo an MRI on the shoulder Tuesday morning. Miller was throwing an out-route in practice during non-contact drills and grabbed his throwing arm/shoulder and told coaches he felt something. Miller then spent the rest of the practice with ice on his shoulder, and was in good spirits.
Fowler was also told that Ohio State isn't sure how long Miller will be out, and won't be until it gets the results of the MRI. Whatever the results, losing Miller for any length of time would be a huge blow to the Buckeyes. Ohio State would go from a preseason favorite in the Big Ten to, well, nobody really knows.
That's just the kind of impact player Braxton Miller is, as he's considered by just about anyone you ask a candidate for the Heisman Trophy this season.
Miller had surgery on a partially torn labrum in his throwing shoulder in February after hurting it in Ohio State's Orange Bowl loss to Clemson. If Miller misses time -- for whatever length of time -- he'd likely be replaced by redshirt freshman J.T. Barrett, who is second on the Ohio State depth chart.
