Oregon tight end Colt Lyerla is no longer an Oregon tight end. Nor is he an Oregon student.
It was announced on Sunday night that Lyerla had withdrawn from school.
"I love everyone at Oregon; everyone’s on good terms, I believe,” Lyerla told GoDucks.com. “Just for my own benefit, it was time to move on.
“I wish nothing but the best for coach Helfrich and the team. I love the University of Oregon and am so thankful for every opportunity that I had. I’m going to use everything I learned from this program and do my best to be successful in whatever happens in the future.”
Lyerla also said the decision was "completely my decision" and had nothing to do with his being suspended for the Colorado game on Saturday. He says he talked with Oregon coach Mark Helfrich on Sunday and left "on good terms."
Lyerla also said he has no plans on transferring to another school but instead intends to pursue a professional career.
Lyerla started 12 games for the Ducks in his career, catching 34 passes for 565 yards and 12 touchdowns. He had two catches for 26 yards this season.
