Ben Simmons (USATSI)
Should Kris Dunn be the preseason National Player of the Year? (USATSI)

I got with my colleagues Matt Norlander and Sam Vecenie on Wednesday to discuss a number of issues in the sport of college basketball. Among them:

Will Kris Dunn's team at Providence be good enough for him to win National POY awards?
Who -- if not Dunn -- should be the preseason National Player of the Year?
Should a freshman -- like LSU's Ben Simmons or Kentucky's Skal Labissiere -- be considered for preseason National Player of the Year?
How has Michigan State secured the nation's top-ranked recruiting class?

Beyond all that, and the normal twists and turns we take during each podcast, we closed by discussing the fact that I've had coaches tell me they've been "asked for things" by recruits -- and the people around them -- more often this year than in years pasts. Why is that happening, we wondered. And I also touched on why schools securing jobs for relatives of players is technically an NCAA violation but extremely difficult for the NCAA to pursue.
