Mullin will add Iowa State assistant Abdelmassih to St. John's staff

St. John's coach Chris Mullin is adding Iowa State assistant Matt Abdelmassih to his coaching staff.

Chris Mullin's first hire at St. John's will be Iowa State assistant Matt Abdelmassih, sources told CBSSports.com.

Abdelmassih spent the last five years on Fred Hoiberg's staff and was the Cyclones' recruiting coordinator. During that time Iowa State advanced to four consecutive NCAA Tournaments with an appearance in the Sweet 16 coming in 2014.

A New York native, Abdelmassih was the point person in Iowa State's pursuit of Royce White, DeAndre Kane, Deonte Burton, Dustin Hogue, and Jameel McKay. He is a 2006 graduate of St. John's.
