Tom Herrion is out at Marshall, sources confirmed to CBSSports.com.

Herrion had been the head coach for the Thundering Herd for four seasons. An official announcement is expected to be made Friday afternoon.

He went 67-67 in his tenure at Marshall, going to a CIT in 2011 and an NIT in 2012, but compiling a record of 22-41 the past two seasons. This season's 11-22 record set a program record for losses in a season. The Thundering Herd also had issues with personnel, dismissing stars DeAndre Kane and Elijah Pittman the past two seasons.

Herrion had two years left on his deal, with about $600,000 for Marshall to buy out.

Prior to Marshall, Herrion was an assistant at Pittsburgh for three seasons and a head coach at Charleston for four seasons.
