KG was brought over to be something of a franchise guide last year, to help with the locker room atmosphere and mentor the young players. Everything from a future stake with the franchise in an ownership role to a management position have been discussed for the former All-Star and future Hall-of-Famer.

He probably could have gone out to LA and been a reserve with Doc Rivers (and possibly longtime friend Paul Pierce) but Garnett seems to realize his days of being a serious rotation player are over and that he has more long-term growth employment opportunities in the city that originally drafted him 18 years ago.

Karl-Anthony Towns is going to have himself one intense mentor for a few more years.
