Mets slugger Yoenis Cespedes was lifted from Game 4 of the NLCS against the Cubs because of an ailing left shoulder. On Friday, the Mets announced that Cespedes received a cortisone shot in his shoulder on Thursday and was prescribed at least 24 hours of rest. That means Cespedes could be ready to return to some level of activity on Saturday.

Game 1 of the World Series is scheduled for Tuesday night, either in Kansas City or Toronto. Cespedes is expected to be ready by that time.

Initially, some wondered whether Cespedes has tweaked his shoulder during a golf outing on the morning of NLCS Game 4. However, Mets manager Terry Collins put that speculation to rest on Friday:

This postseason, Cespedes, who's eligible for free agency this winter, is batting .265/.286/.471 with two home runs in nine games.
