Metro Police confirms former baseball star Jose Canseco was hurt in an accidental shooting Tuesday afternoon at his house on the eastside of the Las Vegas valley.
According to police, the former player accidentally shot himself in the left hand while he was cleaning his handgun. He was taken to University Medical Center. There is no word on the seriousness of the injury.
Since retiring following the 2001 season, the 50-year-old Canseco has had all sorts of legal problems. He also brought MLB's performance-enhancing drug problem to light with his book Juiced: Wild Times, Rampant 'Roids, Smash Hits & How Baseball Got Big.
