Vladimir Guerrero to sign 1-day contract with Angels, then retire

Veteran slugger Vladimir Guerrero will ink a one-day contract with the Angels and then put a formal end to his playing days.

Slugger and bad-ball hitter nonpareil Vladimir Guerrero will sign a one-day contract with the Angels so that he can retire with the team for whom he played from 2005-09 (source: Alden Gonzalez via Twitter).

Guerrero, who hasn't played in the majors since 2011, has a credible Hall of Fame case: .318/.379/.553 (140 OPS+); 2,590 hits; 449 homers; nine-time All-Star; 2004 AL MVP. As noted, he could pretty much hit anything ...

Guerrero spent the plurality of his career with the Expos (pictured above!), but, obviously, they're not around anymore. So the Angels it is. Whatever the case, one of the best and most entertaining players of this or any other generation certainly deserves a fine send-off.
