The Nationals have avoided arbtration with right-hander Stephen Strasburg by signing him to a one-year, $3.975-million contract for 2014, CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman has confirmed. The deal also includes incentives.

Strasburg, 25, is coming off a 2013 season in which he logged an ERA of 3.00 (126 ERA+) and K/BB ratio of 3.41 in 183 innings of work. For his career, he owns a 132 ERA+ across parts of four major-league seasons.

Last year, Strasburg, a Scott Boras client, made $3.9 million, so this constitutes a very modest raise. He's eligible for free agency following the 2016 season.
