Hunter Mahan withdrew from the Arnold Palmer Invitational on Sunday morning with a hip injury, according to the PGA Tour Media.

According to Doug Ferguson of AP Mahan had played two holes before bowing out. Mahan was 3 over to start his final round, 18 strokes back of leader Adam Scott.

I might be prone to hyperbole right now because of the Tiger Woods factor but it seems like there have been a lot of injuries this season.

I do wonder about the viability of careers that last 25-30 years with the grueling schedules these guys play in the modern era.

Not an excuse for anyone, just an interesting aside to golf as we think about it these days.
